The First Post

No need to say that this was my first post because it will be redundant. Just refer to the title ok?

Rant for the week:

“Time heals what reason cannot.”

As I was walking towards the church aisle finding for my chair I suddenly wondered what will happen to my cousin’s wedding. The priest talked to the couple telling them the gift and pain of marriage and gave them a minute for a lifetime’s decision. Time stopped. It was, I think, the gruelest and quietest moment of the couple. Then, I remember their story.

They met at my auntie’s house in Laguna. My cousin was 22 then and his husband now was only 18 at that time. The groom was my auntie’s younger half-brother, while my cousin was a niece of my uncle.

I know you’re confused, but try to imagine it anyways.

Their relationship, like any other relationships, suffered rough waters. Both families try to stop their relationship because of its complexities. By complexities, I mean they become related through our aunt and uncle.

In June this year, my cousin got pregnant which made both families angry. My cousin’s father, for the unborn child’s sake, let his daughter marry the man he disallows while the family of the groom disapproved their decision. The groom’s father wanted only a civil wedding because of the same reason why they do not want the relationship–their connection.

The wedding happened last Saturday, but we can feel the tension. In short, it was no the wedding I wished to happen.

Time is what we both need. Only time will heal pain. Time is the most priceless, yet it is the most valuable. More valuable than money..
